Q: Do you ship your cookies?
A: Wisconsin law prohibits me from shipping cookies outside of Wisconsin. Cookie orders are made for local pick-up in DePere, WI.
Q: Can you delivery cookies?
A: Yes, I can based on my availability and location/distance. Cost is $1/mile round trip: this covers my time, gas, wear and tear on my vehicle, etc.
Q: Where are you located?
A: I am in DePere, Wisconsin. Only a 12 minute drive from Lambeau Field! Go Pack Go!
Q: How much are cookies?
A: Cookies are typically sold by the dozen for $35. Individual cookies or half dozens can also be purchased based on your quantity needs. My cost includes everything from start to finish including details, making custom cookie cutters or stencils, use of the edible ink printer, packaging, and a box. I do not charge extra for multiple designs or colors used in your order. Mini cookies are also availabe for $17 per dozen.
Q: Is a deopsit required? How much and how do I pay? Why do I require a deposit? Are deposites refundable?
A: Yes- a 50% deposit is required on all orders AT TIME OF ORDER. Once an order is placed, you will recieve a confirmation email back from me within 1-3 business days. At that time, I will confirm if I have availability to complete your order. If I can complete your order for your requested date, your deposit will be required at that time to get on my schedule. If I do not recieve your deposit within 5 days, I will not make your order. Deposit can be paid by Venmo, Apple Pay, or Credit Card. There is a 3% fee for credit card usage. You may also drop off cash or check at my address. If I an unavailable for your selected date, no deposit will be required and no cookies will be made.
I require deposits becuase I have had several customer orders where I make their order and they do not come to pick up. It takes materials and my time to compelete each order to perfection!
If you need to cancel your order, I will refund your deposit if you cancel at least 1 week before your selected pick up date. Any orders cancelled less than one week will not be refunded becuase there is a chance I may have already started on your order. Additions or changes can be made to your order up to one week before pick up date.
Remaining 50% of payment is required at time of pick up. Customers may choose to pay full amount due at time of order.
Q: How does the Eddie, the edible ink printer work? Does it put a sticker or edible paper on the cookie?
A: Eddie is an amazing tool that I now have! Think of a printer for paper that it prints right onto the paper- well Eddie prints just like that but directly onto the cookie (or M&Ms, or macarons, or marshmallows, or graham crackers! The list can go on!). There are no stickers or edible paper added onto your cookie- the ink gets printed directly onto the frosting. The ink is food safe and water soluable so it's perfectly safe to eat!! The ink has no taste!
You may think using Eddie to print on cookies is cheating and I thought so too at first! I felt the same way about my projector before I got it! Both are great tools and actually help me make my cookies so much better than I could imagine! Working with Eddie may save me time with the actual decorating, but there is still the digital designing time that I need to do on the computer which can take a significant amount of time as well!
Q: Are you required to have state inspections?
A: The simple answer is no. Wisconsin has cottage laws for home bakers and that is where I fit in. I am only allowed to sell certain items (flour based baked goods) and do not require home inspections or licensing. (WI 271 97.29(2)(b)).
Q: What sugar cookie recipe do you use?
A: I use my basic sugar cookie recipe below:
2 sticks Imperial margarine
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. Vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
3 cups flour
2 tsp. Baking powder
Q: Can cookies be made peanut free?
A: While I try to keep peanut products out of my kitchen when I am baking cookies, I can not guarantee there will be no contamination. Several products I use in my dough and frosting state “this product was made in a facility where peanut products are produced.” If you require an order with the use of almond eliminated, this must be communicated at the time of order. I use either Bob's Red Mill 1 to 1 Gluten Free Flour or Costco's flour blend.
Q: How are cookies packaged?
A: ALL my cookies are sealed with a heat sealer in poly bags that keep cookies fresh for 3-4 weeks and placed in a box for easy transportation.
Q: Do cookies need to be refrigerated?
A: No- cookies are best left on the counter at room tempurature. Refrigeration can actually ruin the design, especially when cookies are printed, as well as drying out your cookies. Avoid heat or moisture to prevent color bleeding- never leave your cookies in a warm car! More information about caring for your cookies can be found on the main page.
Q: What if my cookies bleed, smear, or break after I pick up?
A: Cookies that bleed, smear or break after they leave my premises are the responsibility of the buyer. I can not guarantee correct handling or proper storage once they are out of my hands. Refunds will be determined on a case by case basis only when all cookies from the order are returned in original packaging and I can assess what could have caused the issue.
Q: Can I freeze my cookies?
A: YES! When you receive your cookies, you can freeze them for several weeks to keep them as fresh as the day they were sealed! Place them in your freezer in the box provided. Follow the steps below for thawing frozen cookies.
TO FREEZE COOKIES:
Place cookies directly into the freezer in the box provided. Nothing to it!! They can remain in the freezer for several weeks until you are ready to serve them. I've had some cookies in the freezer for 2 months and they were still perfect!!
TO THAW COOKIES:
Keep them in the box and set the box on the counter. DO NOT TOUCH THE COOKIES UNTIL THEY ARE COMPLETELY THAWED! Thawing takes 1-2 hours depending on temperate of room.
You will notice condensation/frost on the cookie package during thawing. This is normal and will go away once cookies are completely thawed. Cookies can be stacked and moved once thawed.
They should remain fresh at least one week after thawing, but possibly longer!
Q: Why do you need a weeks' notice for my order?
A: Baking and decorating royal icing cookies is a process that can't be rushed! Below is my schedule when I am making custom orders wether it's one dozen or twelve dozen!
Please note: 4 days of cookies from start to finish is the minimum amount of time, assuming I have no other prior commitments or other orders that need to also be completed. Please be considerate and give me at least a week notice for any orders. Any orders submitted less than a week from pick-up day are not guaranteed to be completed on time.
Please contact me directly if you have requests for a specific pick-up date to verify availability.
Day 1
Collect cookie cutters from my stash of 100+ cutters or 3D print custom cutters. Minimum 2 hours per cookie cutter to print. Make cookie dough and cut out/bake cookies. Baking time per 2 dozen is about 20-30 minutes from rolling to out of the oven. Cookies need to completely cool. Once cool, cookies can be stored in a container or frozen for several weeks.
Day 2
Flood cookies and let dry before adding details, writing, stencils. Minimum dry time is 45 minutes before writing/details and 10-12 hours before stencils/air brush. **Eddie printed cookies must dry completely before packaging (must dry for 24 hours before printing and dry for another 24 hours after printing). Some details may be added after first dry time.
Day 3
Finish details on cookies without stencil or airbrushing. Airbrush and stencils can now be added to cookies. Must dry again for 2-4 hours before final details can be added on top of airbrushing. Cookies must dry over night again so all frosting is completely dry.
Day 4
Cookies can be packaged and boxed for pick up.
